Black Large

The Black Ruby Barb, Puntius nigrofasciatus is a difficult fish suitable for community aquarium as long as care is exercised in the selection other fish. Other common names for fish are purple and Ruby Headed Barb Barb. Another scientific name is used Barbus nigrofasciatus. The Black Ruby Barb eastern Sri Lanka. It grows to about two and a half inches (7 cm) long.
The hydrological conditions
The Black Ruby Barb reasonably Freshwater prefer slightly acidic. There are still uncomfortable with the water neutral (pH 7). Their ideal temperature range is 21-26 degrees Celsius (70-79 degrees F). It will take a little higher for short periods. In nature, that schools in streams and rivers flow slow with abundant vegetation. The plants should be well planted with free space for swimming.
The Black Ruby Barb likes not the dirty water with a lot of fish waste and regulate water changes are a good idea. It is also one of the most sensitive fish to ICH (White Spot). Care is needed in this disease and be prepared to treat this effect.
Food
The Black Ruby Barb is an omnivore. They eat normal fish food, but they prefer live food and if possible, some mosquito larvae, worms mud, daphnia or other suitably sized live foods should be given. Frozen blood worms are good and can be easier to obtain and storing live food.
Partners
Black Ruby fish teeth and should be within the institutions at least six fish. Although not the most aggressive fish kept in aquariums, which can cut the fins of fish slow. I would like to avoid in fish fins long as Siamese Fighting Fish, guppies Guppies and Endler. Some companions suitable for a school of Black Gold Ruby Barbs Barbas, PristellaTetras, Rummy Nose Tetras, Harlequin Rasboras, Scissortail Rasboras, Lemon Tetras, Black Widow Tetras, Emperor Tetras, head and tail Light Tetras, Glass Bloodfin Tetras, swordtail, Plati, Zebra Danios, Tetras and Glowlight White Cloud minnows and catfish such as Corydoras catfish pepper.
I do not recommend as companions Mollies, Cherry Barbas, and Cardinal Tetras Neon Tetras. The reason we do not recommend the aquarium with Mollies are great differences in water needs. Similarly, avoid large fish predators and Black Ruby barbs.
Breeding
Black Ruby Barb Man changes color when ready to play. In this state, it becomes clear why it is called things like the Purple Headed Barb. The males get a dark red and black tend to be slightly larger than females. Women are slightly more fat than men. The Black Ruby Barb is a broadcaster egg, and lays its eggs on plants, leaves, preferably well. The water for spawning should be smooth and moderately acidic, with a temperature around 27 degrees C (80 degrees F). Usually, they begin to appear early in the morning. Approximately 400 eggs per female, must be established. By using ball into the bottom of the tank, most eggs should fall outside the scope of parents. As with most fish, Black Ruby Barbas eat their own eggs and babies. It is usual to remove the parents after spawning.
Baby Care
Keep up the eggs dark birth. The eggs hatch in a day and are free swimming after a week. Babies eat protozoa (infusoria) in early and can be complemented by the finest food in the FRY. As they grow, babies can be fed large fries and helped reach a size sufficient live food like daphnia controlled.
