Radar Path

Radar Path
Really hard math airplane question?!?!?

Two airplanes are tracked on the same coordinate system on a radar screen. One plane follows the path described the equation y=2/5x-2 and the other follows a path described by the equation 2x-5y-7=0. In WORDS explain how we can determine wether or not the planes will collide. DO NOT SOLVE!!!! Good Luck.

The slope of the equation of the path of first plane

y = (2/5)x – 2 —-> 2/5

Arrange the eqn of the path of second plane in standard form

2x – 5y – 7 = 0

5y = 2x – 7

y = (2/5)x – 7/5

so slope = 2/5

since slopes are equal the planes are moving in parallel lines.
So the planes will not collide.
